Smoking Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this Smoking Policy is to promote a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and clients. Smoking and vaping present health risks not only to those who smoke but also to others through exposure to second-hand smoke. This policy ensures compliance with legislation and encourages a culture of respect and well-being within the workplace.

Scope

This policy applies to:

• All employees of the company.

• Contractors, suppliers, and visitors while on company premises.

• All indoor areas, company vehicles, and designated non-smoking zones.

Policy Statement

1. Smoke-Free Environment: Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices, is prohibited inside all company buildings, vehicles, and within 5 meters of entrances, exits, or windows.

2. Designated Smoking Areas: Where possible, designated outdoor smoking areas may be provided. Employees and visitors are required to use these areas responsibly and to dispose of cigarette butts in appropriate receptacles.

3. Health & Safety Compliance: The company complies with all relevant health and safety regulations regarding smoking and smoke-free environments.

4. Respect for Colleagues: Employees who smoke must ensure their smoking breaks do not disrupt productivity or expose others to smoke.

5. Support for Quitting: The company encourages employees who wish to stop smoking by providing information on support programs and resources.

Responsibilities

• Employees: To comply with the policy, respect designated areas, and maintain a smoke-free workplace.

• Managers/Supervisors: To ensure staff awareness, monitor compliance, and address any violations promptly.

• Company: To provide clear signage, maintain designated smoking areas, and enforce this policy consistently.

Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment in cases of repeated violations. Visitors and contractors who breach this policy may be asked to leave the premises.
